MARIO PAGNOTTA - Chairman & Founder

Mario founded Pagnotta in January of 1992. While retired from the day-to-day oversight of the company, Mario is still involved as a mentor and guide to the Executive Leadership team. With over 50 years of construction experience and solid relationships with hundreds of industry contacts and clients, Mario’s wisdom and connections help the company’s leaders accomplish Pagnotta’s strategic goals.



Alex joined Pagnotta in 1997 working as Controller and then General Manager. In June of 2015, Alex was appointed CEO. His primary focus today is to set Pagnotta’s strategic mission, vision and values and ensure the overall profitability of the company. Alex has a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting from the University of Alberta.

KARL YACKEL - VP, Operations

Karl joined Pagnotta in 2003 as a Carpenter. He has held a variety of positions over the years with ever increasing responsibility such as Foreman, Superintendent, and SK Branch Manager. As VP, Operations, Karl is responsible for ensuring the operational side of the business is profitable and inline with the CEO’s vision. Karl is an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter. He is working towards his master’s in business administration. Karl is also a Board Member with the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Committee.

BARRY PFAU - VP, Construction
P.Eng, G.S.C

Barry initially worked for Pagnotta from 1996 to 2000 as a Project Manager. He rejoined the team in 2018 as VP, Construction. Barry oversees the general contracting and construction management division. He works alongside ownership, consulting teams, and project staff to deliver well constructed buildings. Barry has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a designated Professional Engineer.


JOE CAUDLE - VP, Concrete

Joe joined Pagnotta in 2002 as a Carpenter. He has held a variety of positions over the years with ever increasing responsibility such as Foreman, Superintendent, Field Operations Manager and SK Branch Manager. In his current role as VP, Concrete, Joe is responsible for the oversight and execution of all concrete projects. Joe oversees, mentors, and guides concrete project teams to ensure that project plans are developed, implemented, and executed. Joe is working towards his master’s in business administration.


James joined Pagnotta in 2014 as Controller and in 2020 he was promoted to VP, Finance. Prior to joining Pagnotta, James spent five years in public accounting, including work in industrial services, construction, real estate, and oil and gas. In his current role, James is responsible for leading the organization’s accounting, finance, administration, and information technology business units. He earned his Chartered Accountant designation in 2011 and went on to complete CPA’s In-Depth Tax Program.


DWAYNE CHMILIAR - Construction Risk Manager
P.Eng, G.S.C

Dwayne joined Pagnotta in 2015. He has held numerous positions such as VP, Construction, Construction Manager and Director of Projects. He currently occupies the role of Construction Risk Manager. In this role he provides risk assessments relating to bid documents, prime contracts and associated supplemental general conditions and subcontracts.  He also provides scope of work reviews, insurance reviews and dealing with legal matters including liens and claims. Dwayne has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a designated Professional Engineer.

DAVID HUGHES - Director of Environment, Health & Safety

David joined Pagnotta in 2013 as a Safety Advisor and worked to a Director role in 2016. David’s primary responsibility is to establish and maintain a safe work environment by developing and enforcing policies, overseeing regulatory compliance, providing employee training, and serving as the principal company representative for all Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) matters.  David has a Health and Safety Administrator Certificate from the SCSA and a Health and Safety Professional designation from CAPSC.

DERRICK ANTONSEN - Field Operations Manager

Derrick joined Pagnotta in 2002 as a Superintendent. In his current role as Field Operations Manager, Derrick is responsible for ensuring concrete projects, staff and sub-trades in BC are executing the project on time and within budget. Derrick drives field performance by managing daily productivity, safety and quality objectives. Derrick obtained his Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter ticket in 1997 and has over 25 years experience managing complex concrete projects with expertise in high rise, mixed used buildings.

JEREMY LANGEVINE - Project Manager, Team Lead, Concrete
C.E.T, G.S.C

Jeremy joined Pagnotta in 2008 as a part-time labourer. In 2010 Jeremy was hired full time as Project Coordinator and was promoted to Project Manager in 2012.  In Jeremy’s current role as Team Lead, PM Concrete he is responsible for the overall success and execution of Pagnotta’s concrete projects and leads and mentors concrete project managers and coordinators. Jeremy has a Construction Engineering Technologist diploma from NIAT and is a recognized Gold Seal (GSC) Project Manager with the Canadian Construction Association.

CAROLYN AUMILLER - Project Manager, Team Lead, General Contracting

Carolyn joined Pagnotta in 2014 as Project Coordinator and by 2017 she was promoted to Project Manager. In her current role as Team Lead, PM General Contracting, Carolyn is responsible for the overall success and execution of Pagnotta general contracting projects and leads and mentors general contracting project coordinators. Carolyn has an Engineering Degree from the University of SK and is an Engineer in Training with APEGA.

HARSHARAN RANGI - Estimator - Concrete

Harsharan joined Pagnotta in 2012 as a Project Coordinator. He has also worked as a Project Manager and is currently the Lead Estimator in the concrete division. Harsharan has a Master’s Degree in Construction Engineering and Management from the University of Alberta and is a certified PMP.

MAGED BOTROS - Chief Estimator

Maged Botros joined Pagnotta in 2018 as Chief Estimator. He oversees project costing and estimating for the construction division. He is responsible for preparing construction estimates for all types of projects including residential high rises, office towers, retail complexes, industrial warehouses, and multi-family walk-up buildings.

Maged also prepares conceptual budgets for projects in pre-construction phase to help developers run their proforma.  Maged has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in the province of Alberta.

WES CUNNINGHAM - Crane and Hoist Manager

Wes joined Pagnotta in 1998 as a Tower Crane Operator and in 2013 he was promoted to Crane Supervisor. In his current role as Tower Crane and Hoist Manager, Wes is responsible for pricing and quotes, logistics, pre-construction, erecting and dismantling and he manages and directs tower crane technicians and elevating and hoist mechanics. Wes completed his Journeyman Tower Crane Operator certification in 2000 and became a verified Tower Crane Service Technician in 2015.

LEANNE RANDALL - Director, People & Culture

Leanne joined Pagnotta in 2015 as an HR Coordinator and was promoted to HR Manager in 2016. In her current Role as Director, People and Culture, she is responsible for reviewing, developing, and executing the organizations overall people and culture goals. Leanne has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Saint Mary’s University, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Alberta and is a Certified Human Resources Professional.
